This is a list of clubs in the greater Wichita, Kansas area feel free to check them all out. I am known to play with more then one club myself. All the information and suggestions are my personal opinion and your opinion may be quite different then mine. For those of
you interested in the medieval times or earlier. I find The Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA)
to be the way to go. They are the ones who dress in armor and look a lot
like The Knights of The Round Table. The SCA is a very structured group
with some very strict rules. Don't get me wrong they are a heck of a lot
of fun, but to advance in SCA you have to follow the rules. The SCA
International Home Page says "The Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) is an international organization dedicated to researching and re-creating pre-17th-century European history."
In the Kingdom of Calontir, which is the areas of Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska, Northern Arkansas
they don't allowed light weapons like you see The Three Musketeers using.
There is and overlap of about four or five centuries when both light and
heavy weapons were in use. If you're more interested in the true
Renaissance time with Swashbucklers, Pirates, Musketeers, or Zorro in mind
the light weapon or fencing clubs would be more to your liking. In the
Wichita area these fencing clubs tend to be less structured and small
groups of 30 to 60 people per club. They are not a part of larger kingdom
or part of a national or international group. That said here is the list
of clubs I have information on, including the Olympic Style Fencing Club,
which is not a Ren group in anyway. Each site has links to other sites
that you may find of interest also. |
This site is for the publishing information about all upcoming Renaissance events. Any Renaissance or SCA style groups may list their clubs contact information and/or events here. Any and all Festivals, Faires or Event Gatherings will gladly be listed. To get information listed contact the webmaster; ![]() |
